Background Information

The Nacionalista Party is celebrating its 100 years of nation building and shall award P100, 000.00 to micro and small enterprises that exemplify Sipag at Tiyaga in their business undertaking. This is to raise public awareness to success stories of ordinary people that were driven by the virtues of perseverance and hard work and went into small business in order to free themselves from poverty.  The awardees shall hopefully be role models for others to follow and the cash award shall in a way provide support for the development of their enterprise. The award shall be less of government mandated taxes.

The award is funded by the Nacionalista Party together with the Sipag at Tiyaga Foundation.

Objectives of the Awards
  1. To give due recognition to outstanding Filipino Micro and Small entrepreneurs for their exemplary performance and accomplishments driven by the virtues Sipag at Tiyaga. (Perseverance and Hard work).
  2. To encourage and promote entrepreneurship development by providing cash incentive to further enhance their business undertaking.
  3. To create public awareness, popularize and build a network of entrepreneurs in order to strengthen their capabilities as a sector.
To provide examples of best practices and lessons learned in people and community empowerment.
 
   

Criteria for Selection

  1. Any Filipino citizen, at least 18 years of age.
  2. Market value of the assets of the nominated enterprise must be up to P300,000.00
  3. Must have a track record of at least three (3) years; or
  4. Business concepts which are still at their incubation stage shall also qualify (waiving the three (3) year track record; and market value of assets), if they show strong potentials for success and would just need funding to realize and actualize its strength.
  5. The business and the nominee must have good reputation in the community and of good moral character.
  6. Nominated enterprise must show measurable results in terms of:
* employment generation 15%
* sales turnover 10%
* growth in profits 10%
* re-investment of profits 10%
* savings generated 10%
* Sipag at Tiyaga record 25%
* impact to community such as enhancement of the quality of life of the citizens/promotion of sustainable development 20%

  1. The nominee must be endorsed by a local government organization, civil society organizations or NGOs.
  2. The nominee should be the owner or founder of the enterprise.

The Search Process

  1. The Pondo sa Sipag. Puhunan sa Tiyaga Secretariat shall call for nominations through government agencies, media, other organizations, and via the internet starting November 28, 2007.  Nomination forms shall likewise be available at the Nacionalista Party website www.nacionalistaparty.com or at the NP Secretariat 2L Starmall EDSA corner Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong City, tel. no. 722-47-27; 723-87-41 fax: 727-4223. 
  2. The Regional Search Committee which shall be identified in posters and print ad shall also distribute nomination forms.     
  3. The interested participants shall accomplish the nomination form and have the same endorsed by any of the following: barangay, LGU, NGO, Civil Society Group, in the locality where the business is located.
  4. The Nominee shall submit the accomplished application form to the Regional Search Offices of the Program.
  5. The nominations will be screened by the Search Committee and they shall affix a number according to the order of their submission.
  6. The Search Committee shall forward only those that pre-qualify.  All applications submitted shall be acknowledged by the Search Committee, materials submitted shall become the property of the Nacionalista Party.
  7. The Search Committees shall rank the nominees in the order of their appreciation of documents submitted.  They may conduct on-site inspection or video interviews to fully document a presentation being evaluated.
  8. The top three (3) nominees as evaluated by the Search Committees shall be forwarded to the National Selection Committee for their evaluation.The top 3 nominees per region shall be considered as semi-finalists.
  9. The final screening to choose the winners and special awardees will be done by the National Selection Committee, composed of the following persons:
    • A member of the Nacionalista Party
    • A representative from the Media
    • A representative from the Academe
    • A representative from the business sector
    • A representative from the private sector
    • They may choose from among themselves who shall be the Chairperson of the National Search Committee. They may choose to interview semi-finalist if they deem it necessary to substantiate their choice
  10. Awarding shall be in Metro Manila in April, 2008.

TIMELINE

November 28, 2007 Launching of the Search at PICC, CCP Complex,
Manila ; publication of the search in major newspapers, inclusion in the website of the nomination form.
anuary 15, 2008  Last day for submission of nomination forms at the
Regional Secretariat.  All nominees shall be
acknowledged thru formal letter of the receipt of
their forms.
January 21, 2008 Search Committee per Region shall evaluate the
nominations submitted and shall rank  them by numbers according to their appreciation of information presented in their nomination forms.
  Search Committee shall conduct site inspections and video interviews.
February 12, 2008 Search Committee shall choose the semi-finalist
per region and shall submit to the Headquarters their top three nominees.
March 15, 2008 National Awards Committee shall select the
winners.
April 28, 2008 Awarding Ceremony
