REMULLA SLAMS LP OVER LATEST BLACK PROP
February 8, 2010

Gilbert Remulla, Nacionalista Party senatorial candidate, said Sunday that the latest black propaganda dished out by the Liberal Party’s “call center of lies” really showed its desperation to undermine Sen. Manny Villar’s presidential bid.

“It is really panic time for the other camp and their desperation is showing in their political maneuverings,” Remulla said.

“They have resorted to weaving malicious tales in order to bring down their opponent. Their call center of lies is really getting busier as the election nears,” he added.

Text messages circulated over the weekend claiming that Villar forged an agreement with First Gentleman Mike Arroyo to make President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Speaker of the House, supposedly in exchange for poll fraud operations in the coming May elections. Mrs. Arroyo is running for a congressional seat in Pampanga. The “secret meeting” allegedly took place at the house of former Rep. Mike Defensor on Jan. 7.

“Senator Villar has denied meeting with the first couple and he finds it ridiculous. There is absolutely no truth to it. We respect the intelligence of people and we know that they will not fall for these kinds of lies and allegations that LP is peddling around,” said Remulla.

Remulla added that Villar and Mr. Arroyo have not been in good terms since the Senate opened the investigation into the fertilizer scam and the national broadband network (NBN) deal with ZTE Corp. of China.

According to Remulla, in their desperation, the people behind the malicious text messages did not even check their facts. “How could Villar have a meeting with FG? First of all, they are not on speaking terms because they have grudge toward each other. Second, Mike Defensor arrived on Jan. 8 from a pilgrimage to the Holy Land,” Remulla said.

NP expects more black propaganda from the Liberals in the wake of Villar’s surge in poll surveys and growing support base.

On Saturday, the 2.5-million members of Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc. (PGBI) endorsed Villar’s presidential bid.
